Silent Guardians of an Egg

  • Silent Guardians of an Egg is an edition of four beeswax sculptures that reinterpret prehistoric zoomorphic goddess forms:

Mild as a Hedgehog, Squatting as a Frog

Staring as an Eagle, Quick as a Snake

Stable like a Bear, Solid as an Egg

Aware as a Cobra, Timid like a Bird

Drawing from research on Marija Gimbuntas s archaeological work on Old European goddess cultures, the work engages with posthumanist discourse by proposing alternative epistemologies rooted in somatic and pre-modern consciousness. Through the reactivation of Gimbutas’s catalogued iconography—particularly her documentation of hybrid animal-human deity figures—the sculptures challenge anthropocentric hierarchies, positioning human subjectivity as one node within a broader ecological continuum. This gesture invites viewers to recognize their embeddedness in—rather than dominion over—the more-than-human world.
